A day in the life of a pencil sharpener.

A day in the life of a pencil sharpener.

In class we are learning to write from the perspective point of view of a pencil sharpener. Have you ever thought of what it might be like to be a pencil sharpener?

There were other sharpeners but they all got lost and broken, so now i'm the only sharpener. I'm always getting lost and thrown around by all of these humans. Without me who would sharpen their pencils. Sometimes I hide myself from the humans so I can get a good night's sleep. I don't understand when they have homework and they save it for later at night because they are constantly waking me up to use me.

I do not like being a sharpener, it's the worst feeling to wake up to someone grabbing you to use you. They don't ask to use me, they just do. One day I arrived at school in a kids pencil case when I realised that everybody in the class has a brand new sharpener. I was angry, furious. Why would the teachers get everyone a new sharpener? I mean I was a bit rusty and the paint had worn off a bit but I was perfectly fine. My names sharp by the way and I hated when there were new sharpeners because the humans always forget about me. Every time there is a new sharpener I'm always getting lost. I get thrown around and lost in school bags and pencil cases. I'm usually lost for a numerous amount of weeks until some little kid picks me up and puts me on a desk for me to be used again.

Learning Perimeter

Perimeter
In class we have been learning and understanding perimeter and area. Like this rectangle just say the rectangle is your house and those are the measurements for the perimeter of your house. You would then plus the 7+7 together which equals 14 and then you would plus together the 3+3 which equals 6 and then you plus the 14 and 6 together which equals 20.

                                            7                                    3
                                          + 7                                   +3
                                    = ---------                        = -------------                                                                                                                14                                       6

=20 so all together it is 20

Our Visit To The Ngahere

On Tuesday the 10/2/2020 our class went to the Ngahere. We were split into three groups. One group was with Whaea chrissy, another one was with Gina and the last group was with Whaea Veronica. I was in Whaea Ronies group. We walked over to the Ngahere in a big group. When we got there we came across this sign were we had to clean our shoes to protect the Kauri trees because there is this microscopic fungus like organism, called Phytophthora agathidicia which lives in the soil and infects Kauri trees. After that we followed the path into the Ngahere. We saw heaps of cool things like these. We talked about all of the textures and different colours in the Ngahere. After we talked and discussed everything we then decided to head back to school so that we could make it in time to morning tea.
