The Big wave

This week in Te Ngahere we have been working on 100 word storys This was one of those moments. You could hear the sharp intake of breath as the fifty metre wave frothed and foamed. There were only seconds left to wait. They stood there shaking in terror as they  watched the fifty meter wave build up right in front of them. Everybody on the wharf started to scream, most of the people ran but the others stood there in shock as they watched the fifty meter wave crash over the top of them. The people watching screamed in horror as they saw people they knew getting tossed up by the huge wave.

100 word story

This week in Te Ngahere a couple of students and the opportunity to do a 100 word story. we had to choose a picture and write exactly 100 words.
The green grass is slowly starting to disappear into the abyss. The lonely pleading trees are quickly vanishing across the world. Wildlife all around me is reluctantly surrendering to a new enemy. Big grey buildings are popping up everywhere. Hundreds and thousands of trees and forests are getting chopped down everywhere to make buildings. Countries, Towns, of buildings towering down on what use to be beautiful colourful trees and forests. Will they ever stop ruining these forests for these big grey buildings I wonder to myself as I look out my window and watch as they cut down more trees?

Can You Use Weather Words?

This week in Te Ngahere we have been working on Te Reo Maori. We have been learning how to create a weather forecast all in Te Reo Maori and learning how to prounce words in Maori correctly. First we had to get into a group of 2-3 and choose 6 places in New Zealand. After we chose the six places we had to choose six weather words like rain, sun, wind etc. After we chose them we than had to introduce ourselves and say Kia ora my name is Lily but all in Maori. So we had to go Ko Lily Toku Ingoa. After we finished creating our script than we had to screencastify it. Here is my screencastify. Have you ever tried pronouncing weather words in Te Reo?

Mirror Image

This week in Te Ngahere we have been working on a variety of different texts but our most recent one we have done is Mirror Image. We had to choose a text and read it through I chose Mirror Image because to me it was the most interesting and had the most verbs. After we read it we then had to find all of the verbs, adverbs, adjectives, figurative language, concrete nouns etc. After we found all of the verbs  we then had to sort them into the right columns like I have shown in this picture.  After we have sorted them into the right columns then we had to write the sentence we found the verb or adjective in and than highlight it. Do you know what a verb is?
